Time managementchallenges commonly arise in a group setting, particularly when it comes to coordinating everyone’s schedules and priorities while also handling unexpected changes. procrastinating until the minute results in disorganized schedules and increased stress levels and that lack of clarity regarding assignments often leads to a focus on low-priority tasks further complicating the situation. Identifying the pattern of loss of focus wastes so much time on the individual attempt to determine the steps for the task. taking too many responsibilities makes it difficult to maintain schedules and focus. We were dedicated to increased productivity and personal goals while implementing key strategies. We started by reflecting on our current usage of time and maintaining also established specific measurable goals while also assess our most prioritized task. We also review out time management tools that we used to help us improve.
Assignments with heavy workloads are one of the issues that cause students to have poor time management. These days, students have a lot of tasks and assignments to complete during the school term and daily lives. Since these are mixed and those who have no plans with each thing, end up with poor time management. Poor time management can lead to a lot of problems. Problem, especially for us students. Poor time management will make it hard to finish our homework orderly, which means we probably will miss the deadline or finish the assignments inefficiently and low-quality. Then this would cause a low GPA, which might reduce our confidence in studying and even the patience and passion for learning knowledge. What’s more, as students cannot finish the homework efficiently, this might result in bad mental health since students are always constantly under the pressure of facing heavy assignments and dealing with low emotions in their study lives. As for group work, poor time management may cause members to submit their work late. In the long run, we think this can break the trust between group members and cause a bad relationship and low-quality work. Thus, we do think having good time management skills is important.
The solution criteria for the Small Wins group project is that it must be the achievement of a goal or task consistent with the definition of a group from our text. That is, the project includes three or more persons interacting who both influence and are influenced by one another. (Rothwell, 2019, p. 24). The Small Wins project must include a community service component, with our group determining what is both our “community” and who is being “served.” However, the project must have an actionable activity that is conducted by all the members. Further, the project must be accomplished within the provided timeline of four weeks, along with required documentation and support as described in the assignment. Lastly, the project needs to be consistent with Green River College’s guidelines for the safety and security of students during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Using a to-do list helps students to organize tasks and schedules effectively. They can visualize what needs to be done at that time or later by working backward from their goals. We suggest that using apps to manage their to-do list is better than paper because they can sync with phones, laptops, and be accessed at any time and anywhere. Specifically, tools such as “Google Calendar” and “Notion” are helpful in making tasks and schedules easier to manage.
In the beginning of our brainstorming, we were focused on large-scale events, for instance, inflation. Our group decided to investigate a crisis amongst students which is managing their time. We chose this because our own group struggled deeply when trying to allot time for our weekly meetings in class. We believe most students never learned how to manage time nor were given tools to help learn how to balance work, social, and education. By choosing this topic, we were also able to reflect on how we managed time as a group. Since our realization, we have been able to conduct meetings and manage group get-togethers while still balancing the rest of our classes and work schedules and hope to share that with other students.
We began the implementation of our solution by first creating a guideline of what tools or topics we could share with others looking for time management and organization help. This looked like us creating a list of apps and websites that aid organization and help set reminders, as well as deciding on a meeting format to be able to provide these resources. The group scheduled an online and in person meeting for anyone to join, hosted on Zoom and at the public library in Auburn. This was advertised on our social media and around campus in the form of a flier that provided our contact information for anybody looking to join the meetings. At the meetings, we worked together to go over time management strategies that we found useful and how to implement them into our daily study habits.
Our project focused on improving time management techniques. Throughout a series of meetings, our group learned that utilizing tools such as Google Calendar and Notion improved the management of our time, organization strategies, and taught us how to set achievable goals. Through researching and by applying our findings to our work, we experienced first-hand the significance of proper time management and how it correlates to better performance, relationships, and habits. The flexible nature of these tools is valuable, as it is applicable to an extensive variety of labor and personal needs.
