Since Covid, we have been restricted to staying inside or sitting at a computer for prolonged periods of time, this has caused us to become very sluggish. Our group wanted to improve our exercise schedule, lesson our screen time, have a better diet, and drink more water. This matters to our group because after this project we want to continue doing these things to better ourselves as individuals, which can contribute to the overall health of our community.

Solution Criteria

The solution criteria for the Small Wins group project are that it must be the achievement of a goal or task consistent with the definition of a group from our text. That is, the project includes three or more persons interacting who both influence and are influenced by one another. (Rothwell, 2019, p. 24). The Small Wins project must include a community service component, with our group determining what is both our “community” and who is being “served.” However, the project must have an actionable activity that is conducted by all the members. Further, the project must be accomplished within the provided timeline of four weeks, along with required documentation and support as described in the assignment. Lastly, the project needs to be consistent with Green River College’s guidelines for the safety and security of students during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Solution Suggestions

With the limitations placed upon our group because of location and social regulations, our options for small wins were limited. Our primary focus for ideas revolved around being able to accomplish the tasks individually but also be able to record them to share with the group. Things like eating healthier, increasing water intake, increased exercise and so on. These seemed the most logical regarding recent events. With the limitations on social activities because of COVID-19, our time spent inside, and inaction had increased. So, we decided that our group’s “small wins” would be related to increasing our physical health to prevent inactivity.

Solution Evaluation and Selection

We collectively had lots of health-related “small win” problems. As a group, we voted to combine the health-related problems as our solution. We evaluated each sub-solution based on the abilities of the group. We asked the question, “Can the solution be implemented with our resources?” We decided to solve the small win by increasing our water consumption, having a healthier diet, exercise regularly, and reducing screen time.

Solution Implementation

For our “small wins” project, we started out on the 18th of May when we held a meeting discussing the proposal and plan portion of the project. Together we looked over the documents and had a couple people turn them in. On the 22nd of May, we assigned report components to each group member and then discussed the needed pictures for our project. All the pictures/videos and report components were to be done by the 1st of June. We then had Jace Thackeray voice over Anthony Jacksons’ summary and comments of Usman Choudhary. After the voice overs, the video is put into place by Mark Morgan.

Conclusions

The success of the project was contingent on everyone having clear and identifiable goals. As a group we divided the labor and put considerable effort into making our projects goals attainable and meaningful. The “Small Win” goal was to improve the overall health of our community (Purchasing Group). We drank more water, ate healthier foods, exercised more, and spent less time on technology, which enabled us to successfully meet our goals.

References

AgenciaFAPESP. “Lack of Physical Exercise during COVID-19 Confinement May Lead to a Rise in Mortality.” EurekAlert!, www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2021-01/fda-lop011921.phpLinks to an external site..

“The Importance of a Healthy Diet and Exercise – Nursing in Practice.” Nursing in Practice, 27 Aug. 2020, www.nursinginpractice.com/clinical/obesity-and-nutrition/nutrition/the-importance-of-a-healthy-diet-and-exercise/Links to an external site..

Group Project 2 – Small Wins Group Project 2 – Small Wins CSMT &230 Small Group Communications, Green River College Group: Purchasing Group Members: Anastaysia Gerasimova, Anthony Jackson, Angelina Tytarchuk, Jace Thackery, Mark Morgan, […]

["post-62","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry
["GET
